Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Muthoot Finance, in collaboration with India Vision Foundation, inaugurated the Radio Parvaaz Center at District Jail Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant step toward prison reform and inmate rehabilitation.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was graced by Dr. Viresh Raj Sharma, Senior Jail Superintendent, Meerut; Mr. Rakesh Mehra, GM – CSR & Corporate Affairs, Muthoot Finance; and Ms. Monika Dhawan, Director, India Vision Foundation. The event was also attended by Mr. Santosh Chandra, Regional Manager, Meerut; Mr. Awanish Singh, Jailor; Mr. Hoshiyar Singh, Vigilance Officer, Meerut; Mr. Dilip Kumar, Senior Manager – CSR; along with other dignitaries, officials, and inmates.

India Vision Foundation, a 30-year-old nonprofit organization founded by Dr. Kiran Bedi, India’s first female IPS officer, has been working extensively in the field of prison reform and rehabilitation. Through its structured and impactful interventions, the organization continues to transform the lives of incarcerated individuals and their families.

As part of the project, an internal radio broadcast system has been established within the prison premises. The setup includes a dedicated wooden studio room equipped with a wooden table, chairs, speakers, amplifiers, desktop system, Carvaan radio, air conditioner, headphones, false ceiling, lighting, and other essential infrastructure.

A selected inmate has already been trained by India Vision Foundation to serve as the in-house Radio Jockey (RJ). The broadcast will run for two hours every morning and evening. Inmates can send requests to the RJ for their favorite songs, special occasion wishes, and reformative messages, making the platform interactive and emotionally engaging.

The Radio Parvaaz Center will deliver 246 curated audio capsules designed to educate, engage, and inspire inmates. The content focuses on life skills, emotional intelligence, gender sensitization, social awareness, cultural themes, and real-life stories of transformation. The initiative is expected to benefit approximately 3,000 inmates by promoting informal learning, emotional well-being, and behavioral rehabilitation.

During the inauguration, Mr. Rakesh Mehra and Dr. Viresh Raj Sharma addressed the inmates through the newly launched broadcast system, highlighting the objectives, benefits, and expected positive impact of the Radio Parvaaz Center.
